The traditional tools of photography were designed foremost for function and purpose. Yet as time has marched on, these tools have developed their own aesthetic allure. Obscura focuses on works that have incorporated these tools as a way to connect the past to the present. Formerly ubiquitous media, such as slide projectors and pinhole cameras, bring the mechanics and techniques of traditional photography to the forefront as storytelling tools that vibrate with cultural and historical significance.
